I am trying to the name of a bush I saw in Sevierville TN. It was about 3-4′ tall and had red stems. The leaves were in groups of 5-7 and looked very similar to the leaves of a buckeye tree. The leaves were whitish on the outside and green in the middle. If someone could help me find the type of bush this is I would GREATLY appreciate it. I have been searching online for hours with no luck.
I showed your comment to Hugh Conlon, our UT retired horticultural extension agent, in hopes he could ID the plant from your description. However, he was not able to do that. He said he would need more information first, for example whether it is a perennial or a woody plant. Maybe someone who knows this plant well will recognize it and post a reply. I am sorry we couldn’t help.
I went by today and took a picture if there’s a way for me to send it to you.
You can send it to me at joylarry@btes.tv. I will have Hugh take a look and hopefully we can figure it out.
