Part to full shade, moderately wet to moderately dry moisture level, humusy loam soil, slightly acid to neutral pH.  8-12 inches height, blooms in spring, cream colored flowers, freely self-seeds and can be aggressive.

Easy to grow.  Blossoms make good candy, jam, jelly, syrup and wine.  Edible leaves are high in Vitamin A and C.  Leaves are larval food for Fritillary butterflies.  Attracts butterflies and birds.
