Part to full shade, medium to dry moisture level, sandy soil, alkaline pH.  6 – 8 inches height, spreads slowly by rhizomes and naturalizes well.

Native Region:   Primarily found in the Ridge and Valley Province and on Cumberland Plateau

Cool season.  Good groundcover for the woodland or rock garden.  Tolerates dense shade.  Sometimes forms large colonies under ideal conditions.
