Description:  Rock Cap Moss is a densely tufted cushion moss that grows in soft, velvety clumps.  Color changes to different shades of green depending on weather and moisture.  It is brilliant green if there is enough moisture.  Distinguished by its leaves which strongly curl in the same direction, giving it a wind-swept look. Stems are covered in a whitish fuzz.  It is a common, widely distributed moss.  Usually found in dry to moist forested areas; thrives best in shade locations and only tolerates partial sun.  It does not tolerate wet feet or constant moisture.  Relatively long lived.  Transplants well into shady areas onto rocks or soil.
