Description:  One of our most common mosses.  It is easily recognized by its distinctly double-toothed leaf margins.  Lush green with bright green new growth in spring.  Leaves are green, yellowish green or dark green and densely hairy.  Stems are red or brown.  Preferred setting is damp woodlands on logs, rocks and soil and along side streambeds.
