Full sun to part shade, moderately wet to medium moisture level, rich loamy soil, slightly acid to neutral pH. 12-18 inches height, blooms in summer, white flowers, freely self-seeds to point of being weedy.

This violet performs better in cooler summer climates of northern US than in hot summer areas such as Tennessee. Violet blossoms make good candy, jam, jelly, syrup and wine. Edible leaves are high in Vitamin A and C. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds.
