Part sun to light shade, moderately wet to medium moisture level, adapted to a wide range of soils except rocky, strongly acid to moderately alkaline pH.  1-3 feet height, blooms in spring, yellow flowers, spreads at a moderate rate by rhizomes and freely self-seeds.

Native Region:  Middle and East Tennessee

Showy flowers.  Easy to grow and easy from seed.  Will form large colonies under optimum growing conditions.  Soils should not be allowed to dry out.  Attracts butterflies and bees.
