Native Region:   Found primarily in the Coastal Plain Province plus isolated spots in the Highland Rim and in the Ridge and Valley Provinces.

Cool season.  Nice groundcover for shade gardens and best used in low, moist, well-drained spots such as beside ponds or streams.  Blends nicely with ferns, Virginia blue bells and coral bells.  Individual plants are not particularly striking but a great accent when used en masse.  Forms tidy clumps and spreads slowly both by seed and rhizomes. Easy to grow and maintain.  Tolerates a fairly wide range of soils, some drought, and light foot traffic.
