Full to part sun, wet to moderately wet moisture level, loamy soil, circumneutral pH.  1-3 ft. height, blooms summer into fall, purple to blue flowers, will naturalize by self-seeding and creeping rhizomes.

Native Region:  Primarily in Blue Ridge, Ridge and Valley, and Cumberland Plateau Provinces; also isolated spots in Coastal Plain Province

This species is a wetland plant in Tennessee.  Easy to grow if water needs are met. Attracts butterflies and is the larval host to the Buckeye Butterfly.
