Full sun, dry moisture level, sandy or stony soil, neutral pH.  6 inches height, blooms in summer, yellow flowers, will spread under desired conditions.

Native Region:  Scattered statewide but primarily in Middle Tennessee, especially in the Central Basin Province

Showy native plant and our only native cactus.  Low and spreading, often prostrate.  Horizontal spread is virtually unlimited if plant is happy.  Low maintenance.  Attracts birds.
