Part shade, wet to moderately wet moisture level, prefers rich soil but tolerates clay and sandy loams, moderately acid to neutral pH.  3-5 feet height, spreads by rhizomes and can form colonies of plants.

Cool season. Striking in appearance.  Attracts birds.
